SO THEN CAME THE DISCUSSION OF WHAT WOULD BE THE STEPS TO TAKE IT TO CONSIDER, UM, ALLOWING, UH, SCHOOLS IN, IN THE B TWO, UH, BUSINESS DISTRICT.
UM, STAFF ADVISED THAT, UM, WE THOUGHT THE BEST COURSE OF ACTION, IF IT WAS TO BE CONSIDERED, WAS TO LOOK AT B TWO AS A CONDITIONAL USE MM-HMM.
UH, IN THE B TWO ZONE, SIMILAR TO CHURCHES AND CHURCHES IN SCHOOLS ACTUALLY, YOU KNOW, OR THE B THREE ZONE ZONE.

UM, WE ARE A THERAPY THAT WORKS SPECIFICALLY WITH BEHAVIOR.
PREDOMINANTLY WE WORK WITH INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE AUTISM.
UM, OUR OUR SCIENCE IS CALLED APPLIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS, AND WE LOOK AT BEHAVIOR AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITHIN THE ENVIRONMENT AND HOW THAT AFFECTS HOW A PERSON BEHAVES.
AND THEN WE CHANGE THINGS IN THE ENVIRONMENT, WHICH THEN CHANGES THEIR BEHAVIOR.
UM, A BA IS A THERAPY BASED ON THAT RELATIONSHIP IN THE ENVIRONMENT.
IT IS ALSO CONSIDERED AN EVIDENCE BASED, UM, AND BEST PRACTICE BY THE, UM, UH, SURGEON GENERAL AND THE AMERICAN, UH, PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION.
UM, THESE INDIVIDUALS COME TO US BECAUSE THEY HAVE A SUCH HIGH BEHAVIOR CONCERNS THAT INSURANCE SAYS THIS IS A MEDICAL NECESSITY THAT THEY NEED TO WORK ON THEIR BEHAVIORS.
UM, WHY WE HAVE INDIVIDUALS WITH AUTISM PREDOMINANTLY IS BECAUSE AT THIS TIME, UM, THIS THERAPY'S ONLY COVERED FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH AUTISM THROUGH INSURANCE COMPANIES.

THEIR STAFF IS KIND WELL TRAINED AND WELL, MY CHILD IS LEARNING EVERY DAY, THINKS TO THIS TEAM AND FEELS SAFE AND LOVED.
AT EVERY MOMENT HE'S THERE, IT'S MY HOPE THAT THEY WILL BE GIVEN EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO GROW AS THEY CAN SUPPORT, UH, EVEN MORE FAMILIES.
AND THEN I'M GONNA JUST READ, UH, SOME HIGHLIGHTED BECAUSE ASK THEM TO GIVE ME A FEW LINES AND THEY GOT A LITTLE, TO BE HONEST, UH, THIS IS CLEAR.
WHEN WE GOT OUR DAUGHTER CLAIRE'S DIAGNOSIS, WE HAD NO IDEA WHERE TO START.
AFTER A FEW YEARS OF STRUGGLING, WE WERE BEYOND BLESSED TO FIND TIFFANY CROWE AND HER STAFF AND INTENTIONAL ACTION VI VA PLAYERS MADE LEAPS AND BOUNDS IN HER AUTISM JOURNEY.
A HUGE PART OF THAT IS BECAUSE OF OUR AMAZING A BA CLINIC.
UM, NOT ONLY DO THEY SUPPORT OUR CHILDREN, BUT ALSO THE PARENTS BY TEACHING US WHAT TO DO AT HOME AND HOW TO IMPLEMENT THESE PRACTICES IN OUR DAILY LIVES.
AND THEN THE NEXT ONE, CLAIRE MAKES IT IN AGAIN BECAUSE, UH, AS SOMETIMES HAPPENS, CLAIRE'S LITTLE BROTHER WAS EVENTUALLY ALSO DIAGNOSED WITH AUTISM.
SO THIS ONE IS FROM THEIR GRANDPARENT WHO ALSO COMES TO THERAPY WITH THEM.
UM, HAVING GRANDCHILDREN, MY GRANDCHILDREN, CLAIRE AND JAMESON AS CLIENTS AT INTENTIONAL ACTIONS, A BA THERAPY, HAS BEEN LIFE CHANGING FOR OUR ENTIRE FAMILY.
I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ADD THAT HAVING THIS THERAPY CLINIC IN LAKE JACKSON WHERE WE CAN EASILY TAKE THEM OUT OF SCHOOL AND BACK WITHOUT HAVING TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCE IS A GAME CHANGER FOR SURE.

OUR DAILY LIVES HAVE GREATLY IMPROVED AND WE CAN TAKE MORE FAMILY OUTINGS NOW WITHOUT BEING AFRAID THAT HE WILL BE JUDGED FOR HIS BEHAVIORS.
I USED TO HESITATE EVEN TAKING HIM TO THE GROCERY STORE, AND NOW IT'S NOT EVEN A QUESTION THAT CROSSES MY MIND.
PARENTS OF SPECIAL NEEDS KIDS KNOW HOW HARD IT'S TO FIND RESOURCES WE NEED HERE IN OUR TOWN, AND I'M GLAD TO SEE MS. TIFFANY HAS BEEN ABLE TO HELP PROVIDE SUCH RESOURCES WITH A GREAT TEAM OF EXPERIENCE LOVING AND KAREN, ERIC THIS YEAR WITH JACKSON.
SO, UM, WE LOVE WHAT WE DO AND WE THINK IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT AND GOOD WORK.

UH, WE'RE AT ABOUT 184 INDIVIDUALS ON OUR WAIT LIST CURRENTLY.
UM, AND I, I THINK THAT THAT IS A LITTLE EVIDENCE THAT OUR, OUR BRAZORIA COUNTY RESIDENTS ARE DESPERATE FOR THESE SERVICES.
UM, I, AS A LITTLE SIDE NOTE, AS THE OWNER CANNOT ANSWER THE PHONE LINES ANYMORE, TALKING TO THE PARENTS THAT NEED THESE SERVICES, UM, BECAUSE I GIVE UP MY SATURDAYS AND MY EVENINGS, AND, UH, THEY, THEY, UM, IT'S HEARTBREAKING TO HEAR THEIR STORIES.
UH, THE NEED GOES BEYOND THERAPY.
SO WHAT WE'RE DOING RIGHT NOW IS MEETING EVERY ONE OF THEIR NEEDS.
BUT THROUGH THE INSURANCE MODEL THAT WE WORK IN, WE HAVE TO WORK ON GOALS SPECIFICALLY THAT ARE BEHAVIOR.
SO IF WE WORK ON AN ACADEMIC GOAL, LET'S SAY, UH, SITTING AND ATTENDING TO A TASK, UM, THAT'S KIND OF HOW WE HAVE TO, TO UM, PHRASE IT BECAUSE IT HAS TO BE IN A BEHAVIORAL CONTEXT.
UH, WE CAN'T SAY THEY CAN READ OR THEY CAN SOUND OTHER IDENTIFY LETTERS.
IT HAS TO BE A BEHAVIORAL GOAL.
SO THEY HAVE TO ATTEND TO A TASK.
THEY WILL TOLERATE DOING A NON-PREFERRED TASK.
UM, SO ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE WOULD LIKE TO DO IS, UH, EXPAND OUR BUSINESS INTO A PRIVATE SCHOOL MODEL WHERE WE HAVE OUR THERAPY

SIDE, AND THEN WE HAVE A VERY SMALL PRIVATE SCHOOL WHERE WE CAN PRESENT ACADEMICS AND THEN HAVE OUR THERAPISTS COME ALONG AND SUPPORT THOSE BEHAVIORAL NEEDS IN A CLASSROOM TYPE SETTING IN THE PACE THAT THEY NEED, IN THE CONTEXT OF, UM, LIKE A MODEL, LIKE A SCHOOL.BUT THE IDEA IS NOT FOR THESE GUYS TO COME AND STAY, IT'S MORE OF A TRANSITIONAL SCHOOL WHERE OUR GOAL IS FOR THEM TO COME PRACTICE SCHOOL WITH US A COUPLE YEARS, PRACTICE THEIR BEHAVIORAL SKILLS, AND THEN MOVE OUT TO A MORE, UH, TRADITIONAL PRIVATE SCHOOL AND THEN POTENTIALLY EVEN TO PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
UH, GIVE A LITTLE, JUST A LITTLE BIT MORE INFO.
UM, LOOKING AT JUST KIND OF TO SUPPORT THE IDEA OF THE, UH, PRIVATE SCHOOL MODEL.
THIS IS, THESE NUMBERS ARE JUST BASED OUT OF OUR CURRENT CLIENTELE, 30%.
SO SIX OUT OF THE 22 ARE NOT ABLE TO ATTEND THE SCHOOL OF THEIR CHOICE BECAUSE OF THEIR BEHAVIOR.
SO OUT OF THAT SIX, UM, FIVE OUT OF THE SIX CLIENTS LISTED ABOVE ARE ACTUALLY ON ACADEMIC LEVEL, MEANING THEY CAN DO THE ACADEMIC TASKS, BUT THEY'RE NOT ABLE TO, TO GET THEIR EDUCATION WITH THEIR TYPICALLY DEVELOPING PEERS BECAUSE THEIR PEERS GET IN THE WAY OR THAT ENVIRONMENT CAN'T BE FLEXIBLE ENOUGH TO HELP, UH, GET THAT CONTENT 31%.
SO SEVEN OUT OF THE 22 OF OUR CLIENTS ARE EITHER HOMESCHOOLED OR THEY HAVE SOME ADAPTIVE COMING TO OUR THERAPY AND GOING TO SCHOOL SHORTEN, UH, PUBLIC SCHOOL DAY.
AND THEN 70% OF OUR KIDS ATTEND SCHOOL IN A SELF-CONTAINED SPECIAL EDUCATION CLASSROOM.
UM, AND IF YOU'RE KEEPING UP WITH ANY OF THE SCHOOL VOUCHER, UH, INFORMATION COMING OUT, THE, UM, THOSE SELF-CONTAINED CLASSROOMS, UH, IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS LOOK TO HAVE SOME, UH, CHANGES COMING TO IN THE FUTURE.
SO I WOULD LIKE OUR, OUR CLIENTELE AND OUR COUNTY TO HAVE OPTIONS FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENTS TO BE ABLE TO HAVE A PRIVATE SCHOOL OPTION.
SO, UH, 90% OF OUR STAFF HAVE BEEN, UM, PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS OR PARAPROFESSIONAL IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
SO THAT LED US TO NATURALLY WANT TO GO AHEAD AND DO AN EDUCATION MODEL AS WELL.
SO WE ARE, UM, OH, THIS, THIS IS THE PROPOSAL AND I WENT AHEAD AND HIGHLIGHTED IT DOWN THERE FOR YOU GUYS.
UM, OUR CURRENT BUSINESS, UH, INTENTIONAL ACTIONS, A BA IS LOCATED IN ZOMBIE AND WE'D LIKE TO EXPAND, STAY IN THE SAME LOCATION, SO THAT PRIVATE SCHOOL.

UH, PRESERVATION TREES ON THE SITE, WHICH I THINK THE, SOME OF THE UH, DIAMETERS OF SOMEWHERE AROUND 66 INCHES.UM, AND SO THEY ONLY NEED THREE TREES TO MEET THEIR REQUIREMENT FOR THE WHOLE SITE.
UM, THEY HAVE SOME GOOD BIG ONES.
BUT WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE WE HAD IT LOCALLY WRITTEN OUT SO THAT IN THE FUTURE IF THOSE TREES GO DOWN WE CAN RECALCULATE AGAIN.
UM, IT'S BEEN 20 YEARS SINCE THE LAST POPULATION.
I GUESS IT DOES BRING UP SOMETHING THAT I REMEMBER THE MAYOR WAS CONCERNED ABOUT AND IT MAY NOT APPLY HERE THAT THE TREES THAT ARE DESIGNATED IN PROXIMITY TO THE CONSTRUCTION BE CORDED OFF SO THAT THEY HAVE EXTRA PROTECTION OR AWARENESS.
THOSE ARE FOR PROTECT WE IN A CONSTRUCTION ENVIRONMENT, LIKE WHEN WE BUILT THE SANCTUARY YEAH.

SO MAYBE WE OUGHT TO ADD IN THERE, UH, PER UH, DROP OFF PER PERIOD OR DESIGNATION.
